Make Payments
Because the David Jones American Express Card is a Credit Card, you don’t need to pay off your Credit Card in full at the end of the month. You’re free to carry your balance from month to month. However, you’ll need to pay at least the minimum due amount as shown on your statement by the due date. To avoid incurring interest charges, you must pay the closing balance in full by the due date each month.
How to pay your bill
With many ways to make payments to your Account, you can choose the easiest option for you.
Pay via the Amex App15
To pay your bill via the Amex App, you will first need to download the Amex App onto your mobile device. You will then need to register your bank details via Online Services, Mobile Messaging within the Amex App, or by calling the number on the back of your Card. Once registered, the bank information will be available for future payments.

Once the Amex App is installed and your bank details have been registered, follow these steps:
  • Log in to the Mobile App
  • Select ‘Make a payment’ under 'Current balance’
  • Enter the amount you want to pay
  • Press 'Continue' then confirm payment and your payment will be made
Please allow up to 72 hours for your payment to reflect online.
Pay via American Express Card PayID
You can pay your Card bill faster directly from your bank account using your unique American Express Card PayID.

Before paying for the first time, you must activate your Amex Card PayID by visiting americanexpress.com.au/activatepayid or by logging into your Online Account, selecting the ‘Payments’ tab and clicking on ‘View or Activate your PayID’.

Pay via Direct Debit®
A Direct Debit lets you pay bills automatically from your bank account, so you don’t have to worry about missing due dates.

To set up a direct debit, contact American Express to provide your bank details and confirm the amount you’d like to pay each month.
Pay via BPAY®
BPAY® allows you to make payments directly from your bank account.

You’ll need to enter the following information:
Biller Code: 88013
Customer Reference Number: Your 15 digit Card Account number

It’s important to know BPAY® payments can take up to three business days to process, so you should make the payment at least three business days before your statement due date.
Pay in person
You can make payments in person at:
  • Any David Jones Store or Australia Post Office* in Australia, using EFTPOS. You may pay by cheque at any Australia Post Office* in Australia.
  • To pay your bill in person, you must present your Card and current Card Account statement.
*For payments at Australia Post, you will be charged a $3 handling fee and it can take up to 3 days to process the payment. Card Members who receive online statements are ineligible to pay their bill in person.

Cash payments are no longer accepted.
Minimum Repayment Warning
The table that appears in your statement will show two things (if you’ve made no additional transactions on your Credit Card):

Row 1. Shows the total time it would take to repay your current balance if you only pay the minimum amount each month, as well as the estimated total interest charges that would be applied. This figure takes into account the different interest rates on your balance.

Row 2. Calculates the amount you need to pay off each month to clear your balance in 2 years, the total interest you’d pay and how much you’d save compared to only paying the minimum amount. This monthly payment is determined using the highest interest rate on your balance.

When estimating the total time needed to repay your current balance in full and the monthly amount needed to pay off your Account in two years, we assume your statement is issued on the same date each month and that you always make your monthly payment on the payment date.

Manage your limit
Having a credit Card gives you access to attractive rewards and benefits. But, because Cards are so convenient, it can be tempting to overspend your budget.

It’s important to know how to manage your credit Card to spend within your budget and maintain a good credit history.

Here are some tips on how to be Card smart and manage your credit Card limit:
  • Know your credit limit and don’t exceed it.
  • Know your payment due date and make sure your financial institution receives your payment on time.
  • Always pay at least the minimum due on your credit Card to keep your Account in good standing.
  • Avoid interest charges by paying your credit Card balance in full by the due date each month.
  • Use online account management tools to keep track of your Card spending. That way, there’s no surprises when your statement arrives.
  • Avoid taking cash advances. They often incur a fee and can add to your debt and borrowing levels.
  • Make a budget and stick to it. Track your spending so you’re aware and in control of your purchasing behaviour.
  • Regularly review your monthly statements to ensure there are no errors or unauthorised charges on your Account.
