Take a glimpse into some of Australia’s best interiors with the Inside my Home IGTV series. Sydney-based interior and event stylist, Steve Cordony, takes David Jones into his home in regional New South Wales. Sharing the stories behind each room, Steve reveals his inspiration for styling, as well as key winter updates.

The Lounge

On designing this space, Steve says: “It was all about the colour palette and the materials. Introducing beautiful textures, such as this Country Road waffle weave throw, which sits really nicely over an armchair, is just a nice simple winter update. And this beautiful Iittala vase, again talks to the green [in the space] but also juxtaposes with the more raw elements that I’ve got going on.”

“Like most homes, the kitchen is where we spend a lot of our time. Originally it was half this size and we really wanted to open it up and make it feel more generous but also feel quite cosy and English in style”. When it comes to decorating the space, he says “I always like to play with different objects and accessories, I guess just as I would within a lounge space. So having a little frame sitting against the wall and some interesting vases, like this beautiful cut-glass vase from Brian Tunks, which picks up on the colours of the joinery but again introduces some nice textural elements.”

The Bathroom

Referencing grand hotel bathrooms, Steve says, “I really wanted to make [the main bathroom] feel quite glamorous and luxe but, again, work with the overall palette of the house. For me, the best way to inject personality within a bathroom space is to play with the towels, especially from season to season. I also love to play with scents, creating that intangible mood when you walk into a space – a beautiful scented candle or Jo Malone hand cream is a really nice way to make a house a home, especially within a bathroom.”
