As the founder and creative director of La Porte Space and soon to launch boutique hotel, Casa Renoir, Hayley Bonham knows a thing or two about creating spaces that balance style and function. Established in 2015, La Porte Space has become synonymous with Sydney’s style set, serving a number of creatives through their office and event spaces, photographic studio and Paris showroom. Its enduring appeal comes back to Bonham and the design principles that inform her very own inner world. Working alongside her husband and business partner, Rory Elsom, the couple’s latest projects have taken them to the idyllic Noosa hinterland. From the clean lines to the textural accents of the airy space, discover the details behind this ultra-chic sanctuary.
The Living Room
Fresh and inviting, the open plan living space boasts a serene feel, drawing on its coastal surroundings with a careful balance of light furnishings and cherished objects. Texture plays a big role here with tactile woods grounding the space as textiles add comfort. It’s a design philosophy that’s carried into the main bedroom with super soft cotton velvet quilting and unique ceramics that work to add instant intrigue.

The Kitchen
Having purchased the home in 2019, the couple wanted to keep the original Queenslander feel while giving the architecture a modern update. In the centre of their home, the earthy accents in the kitchen bring a sense of ease to balmy nights spent entertaining with brands like Maison Balzac and Fazeek elevating at a moment’s notice. For everyday rituals, Bonham and her family lean on the classics, think names like Le Creuset and SMEG for seamless everyday rituals.

The Bathroom
A lover of travel, Bonham loved the idea of designing a hotel-esque bedroom so the couple rethought the design and opened up the main bedroom to create a combined bedroom and ensuite space. A sanctuary within itself, the lightness of the bathroom is accented with luxe towelling and an injection of art-like objects.
