Cristom Vineyards was established by visionary founder, Paul Gerrie and his wife Eileen in 1992 and has now, with their blessing, been handed over to son, Tom Gerrie and his 100-year vision for the estate. Together with Dan Erstin in the vineyards and winery along with the god-father of Oregon pinot noir, Steve Doerner heading up the winemaking team, the three are proving to be a veritable tour-de-force that will undoubtedly take Cristom to even higher heights that this already legendary estate holds.

Meticulous farming, bio-dynamics, sustainable operations from vineyard through to winery and minimal inputs are the modus operandi here. A combination of modernity and tradition that produce incredibly elegant and sumptuous pinot noir with fine structure and depth. A winery that makes its wine in the vineyards with an uncompromising vision backed by a deep connection and understanding of the land they farm as well as a wealth of experience and know-how. I¿m incredibly impressed with the 2021s coming from the Cristom Estate, and this one is a perfect example of the phenomenal wines from the vintage. The Mt. Jefferson Estate Pinot Noir was just recently released, but it feels ready to drink now with impeccable balance, structure, and length. Notes of wild huckleberry, toasted anise, perfumed flowers, spiced red plum, and a hint of tangerine zest combine beautifully on the tongue. Delivering perfect balance, mouthwatering acidity, and rounded tannins, this will be a fun wine to watch over the next ten years to see how it evolves with age.
