With elements from three of Merian¿s cherished artworks, this medium-sized pewter vase presents a stunning crested lapwing alongside a branch of Citrus aurantium (bitter orange). Two Morpho Menelaus butterflies¿one with wings open, revealing a brilliant iridescent blue in the original painting, and the other with wings closed, displaying earthy brown tones¿decorate the piece.
