Bridal at David Jones

Our Bridal suite is open to walk in customers if you wish to view our range. The suite is heavily booked in advance so we always recommend that if you wish to try any gowns, you make an appointment prior to avoid disappointment. The Bridal Suite is located on Level 2 of our Elizabeth Street store.

It's best to allow 6-9 months before your wedding to order a gown.

Bridal gown appointments last for approximately 60 minutes. Fitting appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.

The suite has space for you to bring up to 4 guests for your appointment. Please let our Consultant know how many guests you are bringing with you when they confirm your appointment.

It is recommended to wear comfortable fitting clothing that can be removed easily for your fitting. Nude or seamless underwear is best. Please do not wear heavy makeup or fake tan to your appointment as this will damage the gowns.

Our team are on hand to assist you with your needs. If one of our Bridal Consultants are not available, we will ensure a Personal Shopper can meet you on the floor and show you through the range.

The David Jones Personal Shopping Service is available to help style your Wedding party and consultations are complimentary. From the luxurious surrounding of our Personal Shopping Suite the team will assist you with Bridesmaids, Groomsmen along with mother and father of the bride and groom.

If you are ordering a Made to Order gown, we require a 50% deposit at the time you order your gown. When the gown arrives, we’ll contact you to let you know, and schedule a fitting. At that point, we require payment of the remaining balance (unless the purchase is made using a deferred payment plan on the David Jones American Express Card).

Brides may require 2-3 fittings to ensure a perfect fit.

The measurements we take on your first fitting will be those that will be used for the alterations. We cannot be liable if your measurements change substantially from the time we order your dress, to the time it is delivered.

Due to the highly specialised nature of this work, there is a charge for alterations.

If you have a trusted alterations provider, you may have your dress altered by them when you have finalised payment of your gown. David Jones is unable to be held liable for any alterations not measured and completed within the David Jones Bridal Suite by our preferred supplier.

Most brides require 2-3 fittings to ensure a perfect look. We ensure that our alterations providers attend each fitting to make sure that we achieve the perfect fit. If you’re not satisfied, we will carry out an additional fitting to get the look right.

Most of the gowns we sell are Made To Order. A Made to Order gown is made specifically to your measurements by the designer brand.

Our gowns range in price from $1,195 to $17,000. We offer both off the rack and made to order gowns

Bring pictures of dresses you’ve seen on our website, in magazines, on-line, or that you’ve tried on elsewhere. And bring an open mind: don’t be surprised if you find “the dress” on your first visit. Please remember not to wear heavy makeup or fake tan to an appointment.

You should bring the shoes and lingerie you’ll wear on your wedding day in order to have your gown properly fit through the bodice and hemline.

We’ll contact you when your dress is in and ready for you to schedule a fitting.

Bridal at David Jones engages a preferred supplier for bridal alterations. We pass this cost directly onto the customer.

If your gown is purchased as a ready to wear product, you are entitled to a return or exchange as per our standard refund policy provided no alterations have been completed. If your gown is made to order, our team will work with you throughout the fitting process to ensure the fit and cut are perfect. If you do wish to query the policy on a made to order gown or a gown that has been altered, please contact your Bridal Consultant.

Your Bridal consultant will notify you when your wedding gown has arrived. The dress is delivered to us directly from the designer and we perform a thorough quality control check on each gown. We will keep you up to date throughout the process to ensure you are aware of expected delivery dates.
