David Jones Celebrates 180 Years of Style

David Jones 180 Years

This year, we’re celebrating a bit of a milestone – we’re turning 180 years old.

And, throughout this whole time we’ve made it our number one priority to bring our customers the best and the latest products and experiences the world has to offer – in fashion, accessories, beauty, homewares, technologyfood and more.

“When it comes to David Jones, it’s personal” writes Helen O’Neill, author of David Jones: 175 Years. It’s true – from our spring Flower Show to our Christmas windows and many a gift registry in between, we’ve loved sharing so many special occasions with Australia – and we look forward to many more.

What better time than now to look back at where it all began? Let's take a trip down memory lane…

David Jones signals a new era of glamour and wonder. Newly rebuilt, the store installs the city’s first hydraulic lift – a magical contraption seen by few before. The retailer expands into furniture and décor, with customers exposed to exciting, exotic imports brought to Sydney from across the seas.
