The festive season is all about fun and these high-voltage summer looks have come out ready to play.

The Matte Red Lip

Is there any look more classic than brilliant red lips? You bet your sweet sangria there isn’t. This party season, the iconic style is matte, elegant and a little edgy. Fair warning: while a matte texture is bold, it’s not forgiving. Prepping your pout is more important than ever. Gently exfoliate lips in the shower, then apply a lip treatment daily. Before you even reach for a lip colour, blend concealer around your lip line and follow with a primer and long-wear lip liner. Then paint on the matte hue with a lip brush for sharp, ultra-defined edges.

Beauty rules are made to be broken, so boost the va-voom by teaming a metallic gel eye cream with your vibrant lips.

2. There’s no room for error when it comes to flawless lips. For total precision, use the flat, firm bristle and tapered edge of this MAC lip brush.

3. Red lips highlight any redness in your face, so a good foundation is essential. Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation is skincare and make-up in one.

The two-tone eye For summer, double the fun with not one but two shadow shades. Tropical-inspired tones are trending, from fresh watermelon pink to zesty lime green. Simply pick your power hue, then add a complementary colour. If you love rich citrus hues, pair them with a wash of gold or peach on the inner corner of your eye. Prefer deep ocean blues? Couple with cool silver or lilac. But if you’re not ready to go all-out, just use a bright shadow around your eyes instead, keeping the punchy colour as close to your lash line as you can.

When your face is this fancy, there’s no need for coloured nails. Use OPI’s Infinite Shine Nail Lacquer in Bubble Bath, to finish off your at-home manicure.

1. If you want that perfect eyeshadow look to last, smooth on an eyelid primer (we used Shu Uemura Eye Primer) first to create an even base.

2. Apply contrasting eye colours with a small shadow brush. Shisedo's Eyeshadow Brush Small helps to contour and define.

3. Look for an eyeshadow palette with bold, buildable shades, such as Clarins 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Lovely Rose. Spritz your sponge with a facial mist to add intensity to the colour.

4. To make eyes seem larger, use a lighter shade in the inner corners. Try Make up for ever Diamond Powder in Gold. A little goes a long way.

5. Frame your handiwork with a forest of lush lashes. Use waterproof Diorshow Pump’N’Volume Mascara – it comes in black, blue, coral and more.
